The Youth & Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of New Orleans seeks first to journey in faith alongside the young Catholic Church of today by helping them deepen their personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and by nurturing their spiritual development and active participation in the life of the Church.
Our office accompanies adult leadership to help form, equip, and empower them to promote faithful, active Christian discipleship and growth in Catholic identity in the young people in their care, and to further the mission of the Church in their work with youth and young adults.
Our office strives to model the ministry of Jesus Christ, who prepared, trained and sent out His disciples for their mission in the world (Matt. 28:19), by providing spiritual and practical experience, consultation, strategies and resources to those working in youth and young adult ministry in our archdiocese.
Goals
To foster quality youth and young adult ministry both in Catholic parishes, and schools, in all parts of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
To regularly gather the local young church for archdiocesan-wide events and programs, as an experience of being members of the living Body of Christ in our local Church, in communion with our shepherd, the archbishop.
To form and nurture youth and young adults as active leaders in the Church today, and equip them to continue serving as leaders in the future.
To further our efforts as a part of the Department of Catholic Education & Faith Formation, and to collaborate with other archdiocesan offices, as well as outside agencies and institutions, to better serve the youth and young adults in our diverse faith communities.
To be a leading advocate for youth and young adults in the Catholic Church, and in our local communities, assuring that their voices are heard, and that their needs are met, to the best of our ability.
